The full Simhastha period spans 21 months. The principal pilgrimage season, when the Akharas gather and the Amrit (Shahi) Snans are held, falls between July and September 2027.
On these mornings the thirteen Akharas bathe in order of seniority. Vaishnava orders gather at Ram Kund in Nashik, while Shaiva orders gather at Kushavarta Kund in Trimbakeshwar.
Somvati Amavasya
The opening royal bath, with Akhara processions to Kushavarta Kund and Ram Kund.
Bhadrapada Amavasya (expected)
Traditionally the largest gathering, with the heaviest crowds and extensive traffic restrictions.
Bhadrapada Shukla period (expected)
The concluding royal bath and a suitable option for families seeking comparatively smaller crowds.
These are the principal dates of the 2027 bathing season in chronological order. Parvani days offer a deeply devotional atmosphere with lighter crowds than the Amrit Snans.
